GL: When to leave?

I'd change the part about being in NJ in July. You should be in Waterford
NY at the start of the NY canal by mid June or late June at the latest in
order to
have enough time to take your time going through Canada. I would like to see
more time in the northern reaches and Lake MI than just one month. Then be
in Chicago by Labor Day and ready to head south.
