Our single engine trawler is also equipped with a bow thruster and as such, 
I can control the bow much easier than the stern. Therefore I usually want 
to the stern tied before the bow. I like the way you have defined to your 
crew that NO ACTION on their part takes place until YOU specify it. 
Conditions change when docking, and YOU have to be in control to be able to 
deal with them accordingly.We also have to safeguard our hand railing which 
is slightly beyond the rub rail of the side of the boat.
Dock hands cant be expected to know these specific things about our boat, 
and many people assume the bow to be secured first.
