Well it seems from what I read of this message it does fit the red right
returning rule exactly. It is important to remember that in the ICW home is
Brownsville Texas and anywhere on the Atlantic or Gulf ICW you are returning
to Brownsville.

Henry,
You are correct in your assessment.
We live on the Gulf ICW, OK just off of it, and have more than 20,000
miles on it. An easy way to remember where the RED ATONs are is that the
RED ones are on the side nearest the MAINLAND and any time you are near the
MAINLAND it is dangerous!!!!!!
As stated the exception is at inlets where the ICW shares the waterway with
the channel in from the sea, . These are all clearly marked on the charts
and just about all of us have GPS and or LORAN !!!!!!
Having traveled the entire Gulf and Atlantic Intracoastal Waterways it is
not difficult at all keeping up with the inlets from the sea. Most of them
are short, particularly when compared the length of the ICW's.
Some are only a few hundred yards long!!!!!
