Well, I DID originate the thread and I'm blood sorry I did. My question, if
you care to review it, was "how to avoid Canadian waters" and, only after
probing by other listers, did I explain my personal reasons. When asked a
direct question, I tend to give direct answers. It certainly was not my
intention to start a Canadian/American debate on gun ownership, an argument
that is unwinable and rooted so deeply in the respective cultures as to be
"untouchable" in polite conversation.
I want to include the beautiful Canadian anchorages in any northern loop
segment, to not do so would be most unfortunate on such an epic trip and
exclude for foolish reasons beautiful and culturally rich venues. My plan,
based on other research and comments from the List are to pre-clear, follow
Canadian law to the letter, bring only am acceptable weapon (shotgun, NO
handguns) with a concurrent sporting use and be polite, circumspect and
right...especially right.
So, ENOUGH ALREADY. The knowledge base of this group is invaluable. May we
please have more about locks, bridges and marinas?
Hoping to end the madness,
Rob Dorsey
