GL: alarmed at firearms comments

30 months of live-aboard over 5 years traveling the Eastern Seaboard from
Montreal to Florida, no guns, no dogs, no nightwatchman, no fears, no
problems. And this included 2004 when we were flying a "No More War, Vote
for Kerry-Edwards" banner.

When tied to town docks at night we would lock the door from the inside on
the portside, generally the starboard door, just for peace of mind. And of
course locking both doors when off the boat during the day.

The only strange thing that did happen was while tied up at the city docks
in Savannah (a great stop BTW). When we returned to the boat in the
afternoon, a family from India (or thereabouts) was sitting on the bow
enjoying the view. A simple, polite shooing got them off. We never did
understand why they felt OK about climbing aboard. Cultural?
