GL: alarmed at firearms comments

Many folks have guns as a  hobby, they are used to them and like having them 
around, I am one of  them. I have never done the loop, but I would be 
surprised if there are any  loopers who have ever needed to use a gun for self defense 
on the trip. If  there are they wouldn't be many, and I'd be interested to 
hear the  circumstances. 
    A bit of common sense used to stay out  of unsafe looking areas will 
probably be more useful.
