GL: alarmed at firearms comments

We just completed the loop with no problems. The loop is just like any
other trip that you would take. There will be cities with "bad" areas and
common sense will tell you if you should move on. We stayed in the downtown
areas of many major US cities and some Canadian, and many remote anchorages.
We did not stay in downtown Ottawa, but moved on to the locks about 3 miles
up the Rideau. Ottawa has had some problems, but many have stayed there
with no problems. The heads up of the lock masters or other travelers along
your route will help you find many safe anchorages and docks.

I am permitted to carry a concealed weapon in Michigan and any of the states
with recipricol (sp) agreements. We did NOT carry any weapons on our trip
nor feel the need for them.

Enjoy the trip - it is a GREAT ADVENTURE, but watch out for cars with
drivers on their cell phones.
