GL: Coast Guard / vessel name and home port on dinghy bottom

John,
I regret that you took offence at my EXPERIENCE.

I did not  and do not speak to the " regulations" whatever they are.
I related only what I experienced and have experienced on someone else's 
boat that I happened to be on when it was boarded by USCG.

My boat, that I have had for 22 yrs has a current CG Aux VSC sticker as it 
has for the vast majority  of the 22 yrs and the dinghy has been on the 
stern  about 1/2 that time.

Again that is my experience and as I said YMMV.

I guess a survey is in order.
 With the thousands of boats out there carrying the dinghy on the transom 
blocking the name and hailing port painted on the transom  WITH the vessel 
name and hailing port painted on the bottom of the dinghy. Those who have 
been cited and or fined please let us know.
