GL: Can one avoid Canada?

Evening Rob,

" Honestly, no offense intended"

None taken.

Have you actually investigated travelling through Canada with your firearms?

It takes a bit of paperwork and everyone's favourite - money, but it can
likely be done.

All the troubles I've heard involved people trying to ignore the laws or
actively hide their firearms.

If you show up and hand the Customs guy or gal a sheaf of completed
paperwork, they'll likely thank you for doing all their work.

When I was posted to Griffiss AFB Rome NY by the Canadian Air Force, we
rapidly learned that the average Customs agent on either side can't possibly
know all the rules. We were back and forth across the border many many
times. Learned the rules and would just tell the agent at the booth going
either direction that we needed to go into the office because that's where
they were going to send us anyway. We'd walk up to the counter and when it
was our turn - ask them to get out book so and so, chapter whatever and
paragraph such and such. Explained that was what applied to our situation.
Never had any trouble going north or south.

Personally think you're giving up on a great experience too easily. But
hey, that's just my opinion and being free is worth about that much ;-)

Stay well
