GL: Can one avoid Canada?

This will be my FINAL comment on this thread. 

According to Rob D there are dangerous parts of the waterways in the US so what about us poor unarmed Canadians. I guess we better avoid the US part of the loop since foreigners are not allowed to carry guns in the US.

Tell me, do you go outside the US at all? I suspect there are other countries that are reachable by water that might take offence to someone bringing weapons into their ports too.
