GL: Can one avoid Canada?

Ladies and Gentlemen (and hoping you so remain),
Please don't consider my query as a slight toward or condemnation of
Canadian folks in any way. Heck, some of my best friends are Canadian ;-)
The most important reason for my query is the exposure to Canada's
oppressive gun laws.
The Best Revenge does not leave port unarmed. Anyone who has anchored in our
Midwest and southern, red-neck, stream mouths and sloughs knows what I mean.
While I've not been boarded, yet, there are lots of liquored up
cat-fishermen and general nogoodnicks prowling the more rural segments of
many inland waterways looking for a little trouble. We know people who have
been with confrontational results. We are lifetime NRA members and
supporters of the US Constitutional right to "keep and bear arms." We,
therefore, do so. The threat of confiscation of our firearm(s) for just
tying up at a Canadian marina makes it untenable for us to consider,
therefore the question.
I know this will probably offend some Canadian list users but, it's your
country, change the rules and we'll most gladly visit. I love the country,
but not some of the laws. I also love China, but...it is the Peoples
Republic of China and you must realize the restrictions to freedom which
visiting imposes. In this case I would rather avoid the confrontation if
possible.
I've also heard the argument to weapons restrictions in some US states.
Illinois, Massachusetts and New York, for instance, have strict gun control
rules. However, our storage practices meet their rules and they are the only
states on the loop requiring such storage. Approaching any such state we
unload the gun(s) and store them where they meet the requirements. Not
having them at all...not in the cards.
Honestly, no offense intended,
Rob Dorsey

Oh yes, and none of this stuff occurs in the US. There you only get boarded
for questionable reasons by power hungry USCG types. Ticketed in Florida for
not having paid state tax. Should I continue because I can you know?
Grow up Macdonald and think before you post!
Sorry to the rest of the list for putting this out.
