GL: Can one avoid Canada?

Avoiding Canada ....

If you can get your bridge clearance height
down to a bit over 15 and 1/4 feet, you can run the Erie Canal out to Buffalo
and then thru the great lakes to Chicago ....

Not certain exactly where the
borders are at the east end of Lake Erie, but hopefully someone else will
comment on that.
