GL: New York Harbor Security Zones

I would suggest that this is very much about boating. One of the things we all
enjoy about boating is the freedom to get out there and enjoy ourselves, go
where we want to and and see all the wonderful sights on our waterways. None
of us want to be restricted in any way, however we put up with "No wake
zones", "no anchoring zones"ect. ect. This is all for the common good in
general. In the boating world saftey and personal responsibility are preached
everywhere you look, including this forum. In the area of Homeland security it
is important that we all do our part by staying clear of security zones and
not approch commerical vessels too closely. I was happy to read recently that
the security zones in the Port of Tampa were cut back in order to give
pleasure boats greater freedom of movement. I belive that the responsible
actions of boaters had a positive effect on this change.

This is starting to spiral into one of the most divisive, emotional topics
of this country's history, one that has nothing to do with boating.
I suggest we restrain ourselves, or head to a more appropriate conference.
