PLEASE; Before hanging a PLASTIC BAG over the side of your boat, think
about, even a part of it tearing loose and floating on the water.
This is something that can and does cause catastrophic damage to engines by
being SUCKED UP INTO the water intakes.

OK it is plastic on your boat and you have passed the point of lose of part
of the bag so only the boats behind you have to worry about your
plastic.!!!!
Every time I see any plastic in the water I go out of my way to get it out
for if it does not get me it will get someone else. Ice bags are
particularly prevalent in the water???

On a related topic, the ban on tires is the same, they break loose and don't
sink and then get caught in someone's wheel.

At Waterford we saw a new 42 GB with motorcycle tiers for fenders. As the TV
guy says" give me a break".

We use 12x34 fenders ( black) and as THE WIFE says," They are squeezed
within an inch of their lives in the locks and no harm done."

We lock every time we leave our home dock. On this trip , we have been in
Canada for 6 weeks on the Rideau, Richelieu, Champlain, and Oswego canals
with what a 100 locks or more, and no problem.
And several on the St Lawrence Seaway.

This is only our experience and as always, YMMV

For the above mentioned canals we set two rows of fenders, one high and one
low to the water as some locks fill to the very brim with little room for
the fenders so the smaller fenders are used there.
