Dear Fred, This is our first of anticipated two winters at winter harbor, we have not yet retrieved our boat this spring, but our fall experience was 4 star, and they have an outstanding reputation . No one does ANY WINTERIZATION, the storehouse is kept at 50 degrees, they have emergency  power, and they live on site, Sincerly, Jon.

Do you keep your boat at Winter Harbor Marina year round?  If so what's your opinion of the heated storage?

I stop there each year for a few days and havce most of my mechanic and bottom painting work done there.

Dear David. I would suggest a single screw displacement or semi-displacement trawler with the prop and redder behind the dead wood for protection from grounding and debris. Very rarley will you be able to exceed 6 knots. With a single screw you would probably want a bow thruster. Radar not critical but depth sounder and VHF are. GPS chartplotter with proper chips is very helpfull. Unknown state of mainanance of equipment on someone elses boat always a question, Be sure to have in writing who is financially responsible for repairs due to wear, lack of mantanance, and from dammage. I'm looking at the possibility of chartering a boat from a private owner for
one year to do our loop trip. For me it would make sense as I would not have
to sell the boat when we're done. For the owner it might make sense if he
wants the boat used and well maintained so things don't go bad just sitting,
save moorage fees, and perhaps other reasons that would make a good fit. I am
very qualified with a lifelong experience in boating, am very mechanical, and
like to keep things pristine so I should be able to overcome any of those
concerns.

My question is if this is done occasionally or just not feasible for some
unforeseen reason.
