typo corrected version. Max speed 10 kt with many no-wake areas. I have personnaly witnesses two intentional delays by lockmasters for too rapid transit between locks.

for single handing, consider usin g your midships cleat, single looped line over the bollard or throught the vertical cable. VERRRRRRY large fenders fore and aft (remember you will be along side a high wall and your railings need to be protected. At the top of the lock you may be along side a wall only l foot or less above the water, so you need low protection . BE CERTAIN TO HAVE A KNIFE, PREFERABLY SERRATED IMMEDIATLY AVAILABLE TO CUT HUNG UP LOCK LINE IF NECESSARY. Best to luck, Jon.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my question
regarding Single Handling the Champlain Canal System.

My vessel does not have a bridge and my cleats are
within 7ft of the helm.

My question I guess is: What is the best way to rig
the vessel for the canals?
What kind of system do they have?
Is their any particular situations to look out for?
What is the leagal/permitted speeds in the system?
I have passed thru the Federal Lock 2 years ago just
to get the expirence, but I thought it may be not the
norm as it was very easy.

Any musts to do along the canal?

And yes, I figure the Pottie Police will be out and I
am prepared. I just redid my entire plumbing with
them in mind.

Thanks Everyone
