The problem of getting proper insurance coverage for our boats has 
been hashed over...and over, and over...on this list and others.  The 
'04 and '05 hurricanes only made it worse.

It seems there is a stressful trade-off between cost, coverage and 
availability.  I would suggest contacting Al Golden at International 
Marine Insurance Services, IMIS.  Al is arguably the most 
knowledgeable general agent in the marine insurance industry, and 
will find you the best balance of the three evils mentioned.  He 
happens to represent Markel among many other companies, so will be 
familiar with the problems.
