GL: Insurance

We have had USAA for all of our insurance since the 60's---except boats.  As
you note they sub out the larger boats,and even the smaller boats there are
some limits.

Unfortunately currently very few insurance policies are available for more
than $100,000, value or over 30 feet.  I recently had my boat insurance broker
"shop around"--and if I wanted "everything" I had obtained only a couple of
years before, it would cost about 4x as much--and still have some limits for
wind storm damage.  They is spooked by the hurricanes of 2004 and 2005.  Also,
they did a lot of total loss claims--probably far more than they should have,
but I understand that the insurance agencies would not want people finding out
more problems as they repaired (I saw a lot of this in the people who bought
back their boats, or purchased boats at auction).
