I'm not sure to understand what is so wrong about St-Lawrence. I brought
back a 40' boat a few years ago in early May at 5 kts from Gaspesie to
Ontario and did not have any trouble related to the river, except reading
the tide tables and wait for the proper schedule. Many safe harbors, many
marinas, and a very helpful Coast Guard. While I was in the fog relying only
on GPS, they were in touch with me to check for traffic. None that day. It
was fun.
Yes, it's been windy for a day or two. So what ? It's a boat, not a bed.
With its hundreds, if not thousand of islands all the way from Atlantic
Ocean to Kingston, St-Lawrence river is one of the most beautiful cruises
you could expect.
Tadoussac, the Saguenay river and its whales is spectacular, like is a fjord
in Norway.
Why do you think big cruising ships come from all over the world to discover
the St-Lawrence river ? Give it a try. Cruising is not suppose to be only
travelling from a lock to another lock in protected waters.
