Venice is a delightful place to visit. The only drawback is (or was) the
Nazi DNR policeman. He is famous all over Florida! Some cruisers have
stated they refuse to stop in Venice on account of this person. I wonder if
he finally retired?

He got me the first time I went to Venice. He explained to me clearly that
in Florida your boat must be registered in some state. I told him I was
documented and from a state that didn't allow both. About an hour later he finally
let me go after convincing me that he didn't care about my home state. "This
is Florida" he said and "what I say is the law" So, after he finally let me
go with my AH hanging out, I found out that if you have owned your boat longer
than six months that you can get a Florida registration and not have to pay
sales tax to Florida. So I did. He gets everyone who stops in Venice.
