Sterling asked;

Anyone know the exact location of the free dock in Venice?

About 1/4 mile East from the Venice inlet you will see boats moored on the
south side of the channel just in front of the Venice Yacht Club. Just to
the left (south) of the Yacht Club you will see the boat launch and the free
dock which will accommodate at least three or four boats.
A very good dinner can be had at the Crows Nest Restaurant and Marina which
is about a one block walk back towards the inlet.

Walk south past the enclosed basin to the convenience store and you can
catch a bus if you don't want to walk the mile or so into town. Venice is very
nice small town with a great walking downtown area with good shopping and
eats. It has a nice wine store. several diners, multiple ice cream shops to
choose from and a cute little French Restaurant for lunch located across the
parking lot in the arcade like building one block north of the main boulevard.

Riding the bus the other way away from town takes you to a supermarket with
many other nearby shops which also makes Venice a good re provisioning stop.

We try to arrive early to assure us a place at the free dock and stay late
the next day to take advantage or everything that Venice has to offer.

The Marine Max about two miles south of this dock usually has the best
diesel prices along the west coast of Florida and gives an additional discount
below the posted price for buying more than 100 gallons.

You can probably tell that Venice is one of the favorite stops of Karen and
myself and we have spent at least a dozen nights at the free dock there over
the last several years.
