GL: Cell phone Amplifiers

Greetings,
I have used a DA4000 and the recommended marine grade antenna for about
5 years now on the boat and on land. These were purchased from
cellantenna.com. On land I mounted the antenna on top of a 10ft stick of
1"pvc pipe to get some height. On the boat the antenna is mounted on the
bridge rail opposite the VHF antenna(s). The amplifier is used with two
different model cell phones and a Verizon 555 Aircard (for internet). We
have been in places where neither the Aircard or the cell phones had any
signal (read no service). Turn on the amplifier and had great signal. I have
no complaints about my setup. I would have changed my 555 Aircard to one of
the Broadband cards offered now, but I cannot determine if I can use my
DA4000 with any of them. So I sacrifice a little speed for known
reliability.
I have never ran any ground wire to the antenna or to the DA4000. Maybe
cause my set-up is a "floating ground, is why it works. I dunno! I just
works!
Respectfully,
Ken
