GL: Idiots on the water

Tom,

There are times I wish it were legal to get out the flare gun and torch
them, but sadly it's not. Ya get that stuff everywhere.

I winter at a spot that is just down-river from a boat storage yard, and at
8:30 AM, every spring morning during launch season, I get thrown out of my
bed by a string of trawlers plowing along at 8 knots about 10 feet from my
bow. Amazing how much wake a slow trawler throws up at even that speed.
And of course they never have their radios on.

But go by THEIR marina at more than 2 MPH and suddenly my radio lights up
with a lot of yelling. Usually from the same idiot that waked me just an
hour previously.

My point is, very few folks realize what their wake is doing a hundred
yards behind them, and so many really just don't care. Not a thing you can
do about it.

Grin and bear it, and fight down the flare gun urge! Or get a bigger
faster boat and join them!

Best wishes,

Fred W.

Not because of weather because it was a beautiful day. Very light winds
from the NW, water very calm, except. For the inconsiderate, selfish,
idiotic boat handlers that had to run the ditch in their 40 to 50 footers
with high power engines, as fast as they could because some other idiot put
signs out there saying its OK as long as you dont exceed the 25 mph Speed
Limit.

vessel, thinks its necessary to run with the throttle levers crushed into
the console, down a water way that has concrete walls lining each side of
it. Ill bet these jerks cant even visualize whats going on behind them.

these ignorant fools would run up in back of me and fly by as fast as they
could creating a wake well over 18 inches, some closer to two feet. That
just knocks the hell out of a small single engine trawler and makes it
difficult to control. But do these Dodos think of that? No, no, no! Its
their water and no one else has a right to use it let alone be out there
when they are.

taking and passing a vessel. Never answered on channel 16, 09, 13, 68 when
we tried to call them on the VHF. Or perhaps they did hear but just didnt
want someone burning their ears and letting everyone else in their
neighborhood know they were on the water again creating havoc for others
that were trying to enjoy the day.
