GL: gel batteries

I'm curious about gel battery life also.
My gel batteries are 4 years old now and still fine. I leave em on a
battery charger when unattended. When we're on the boat for weeks at a
time, they always get charged at night or at least for an hour or two while
dinner is being cooked on generator, so we never run them down very much.
We don't have an inverter, so the battery load is limited to cabin lighting.
