GL: GL Anchors

I completed a 13-month cruise of the GL in June using an old fashioned 22# Danforth as the primary anchor for my 32ft sailboat IRISH MIST. The only time it let me down was on Navy Bay in Lake Ontario near Kingston where the addition of a 35# CQR did little to help from dragging in heavy weed fouling. The Danforth served me well in the mud and sand conditions on the Mississippi, the Gulf Coast, and Florida.
I think the most important item in any anchoring system is the addition of a length of heavy chain (I used 32ft of 3/8 chain) to add weight on the rode or use an all-chain rode. I slept well except in a few heavy wind conditions when an anchor watch was a must.
Wish I could be back on the water for another loop.
