GL: anchor advice

We have a big cqr and it works in most places. In Canada this summer
we hit a place with very hard sand. The Cqr with all chain would not
bite and bounced along the bottom. The Bruce with 20' of chain and
nylon held the first time. Ditto for some very loose sediment in the
1000 islands. I was never a big believer in the Bruce but this
experience convinced me. I think the pairing of CQR and Bruce will
cover most situations. I also have a big Fortress packed away for
emergencies or stern anchoring.
