Rich, Ken and All,
After using a Verizon cellular phone cabled to our laptop for several years,
we switched to the Verizon Wireless Broadband aircard this spring. We used it
all the way up the ICW going to the Chesapeake and the only place it didn't
work was about 50 miles in North Carolina, in the Alligator River area. This
is the area that Phil Rosch refers to as Cell Phone Hell. We couldn't be
happier, to the point that we cancelled our DSL service at home, as well as
our regular home telephone service. We are now cellular, all the way. Its not
as fast as the DSL but its close enough to suit us. We use no other gear...no
external antenna or amplifier. This allowed us to cruise and allowed me to
keep tabs on my business.
