GL: Route to Key West

Mike,
We have done the inside route and find it a delightful trip.  In my opinion
there's more to see.  If I recall correctly, the shallowest area is after you
leave Jewfish Creek.  You do have to pay attention to the channel on the
Florida Bay side.  I disagree with Skipper Bob on going into Hawk Channel
after Marathon.  We like to go out Big Spanish Channel and across the north
side of the Keys.  There are several of our favorite anchorages up there.  Two
invaluable aids are Claiborne Young's cruising guide and a chartplotter or
computer and GPS.  Try Tarpon Belly Key, Johnston Key and the spectacular
Jewfish Basin.  You will be in sight of the lights of Key West and virtually
alone.
