GL: Chicago- Labor Day

Hammond Muni Marina is closing early THIS season to get started on a total 
reconstruction to accommodate a casino. They'll be closed ALL next year. 
Kicking out 650 boats in the process.
Typically, Great Lakes marinas shut off the water on October first but most 
stay open till November first. I frequently see sailing out on the lake in 
November and watched a sailboat gliding down the Detroit River the week of 
Superbowl.
There is a somewhat higher frequency of windy weather on the Great Lakes in 
September and definitely more frequent in October. But there is also plenty 
of pleasant weather in September and less in October.
Were I doing the loop, I would hit Chicago in mid to late September. What's 
the rush?
