GL: Fuel price & safety

Randy,
There's no premium for diesel fuel, it's generally cheaper than gasoline at
marinas. Yes there may be an exception, but diesel is cheaper, sometimes a
LOT.
Road fuel bought at gas stations is a different world and has no
relationship to marina/boating prices.
This week my diesel boat is paying about 2.50/gal and my car is paying
about 2.80 for gas.
One other consideration: safety!
Any fuel leaks on your car just drip down on the road and are gone. In a
boat the leaks have no place to go ... and if it's gasoline, you explode at
the first spark. With diesel you have a good chance.
I know this real well, having once been knee-deep in diesel fuel after a
filter burst in my engine room while the engine was running. There are no
spark plugs on a diesel, and I'm still alive.
Best wishes,
Fred W.
