Just to correct Jim's premise that the GCICW ends at Pensacola. The Gulf
Coast ICW continues on to Statuate Mile 375 at Carabelle, a full 200 Miles
further East of some of the best cruising in the United States beyond
Pensacola, FL! Beyond this is the "Big Bend"--a bit of Old Flordia --which
was a bit flooded by Dennis this July With St. Marks,--but again some
excellent cruising. On down including the Swahanee River, Crystal River,
Cedar Key, finally Tarpon Springs many miles before Clearwater.

For books on this part of the ICW--Of course Skipper Bob's, The Claiborne
Young books, on Cruising the Gulf Coast and Eastern Florida, and Rick Rhodes
book on Cruising the Big bend. Chart guides are available for this area.

I can assure you the the vast majority of boats go at least to Carabelle. A
few sailboats and offshore boats will make the run to Clearwater, but it is
their loss!
